Tippy
(© 2011 by Tim Fast - Folkhead Music - All rights reserved)

While sifting through a box from when I was just a kid
In the bottom was a photo when I was just four
I was sitting next to her with my arms around her fur
I called her mine and I couldn’t love her more

You see all I ever wanted was a dog to call my own
They said ”You’re too young,” of course I said not true
Just about that time I met Tippy and called her mine
She was the neighbor’s dog, but she would have to do

Chorus:
I would play Timmy, she would be Lassie
Making up my own dialogue
Like birds of a feather, always together
Like mac and cheese or spots on a frog
Well, there's just no better friend than a dog

Use to be some mean kids that lived on the other block
They chased me down and caught me all alone
When about to hit me, I just hollered "Tippy"
She chased those losers all the way back home

(Chorus)

Moved to another town, hadn’t thought about that hound
I ran into an old neighbor, old Harold Day
“Did you hear about Tippy?” and although it really hit me
I found comfort she went in a peaceful way

Chorus:
I would play Timmy, she would be Lassie
Making up my own dialogue
Like birds of a feather, always together
Like mac and cheese or spots on a frog
Well, there's just no better friend
They'll love you 'til the end
There's just no better friend than a dog
